IDF: The Chief of Staff directed the establishment of a team of experts to examine and strengthen operational discipline in combat, following the death of the late Major (Ret.) Ze'ev (Zabu) Hanoch Erlich in the battle in South Lebanon The Chief of Staff, Major General Herzi Halevi, today (Thursday) appointed a team of experts to examine and strengthen operational discipline and military culture in combat, led by Major General (Res.) Moti Baruch, Following the incident in which the late Major (Ret.) Zeev (Javo) Hanoch Ehrlich fell in battle in southern Lebanon. The team will deal with the formation of a detailed situation regarding operational discipline, the orders and procedures of the army, the rules of conduct and the norms used by the army units on the two main combat fronts - North and South. In addition, the team will stand for the manner in which a proper military culture is realized in the fighting units in the two aforementioned sectors and formulate practical recommendations for strengthening discipline and military culture in combat as a whole. The team will hold operational learning with an emphasis on aspects of discipline and military culture from the event of the induction of a Major (Res.) Zev (Zabo) Hanoch Ehrlich, late, to the battlefield on November 20 2024. The team will begin its activities immediately, and will submit its recommendations to the Chief of Staff in about two weeks from today. The team will work in parallel with the command investigation led by the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Uri Gordin.
